I’m having a bit of a slow day, so I’ve decided to write something easy, light-hearted and fun. As you probably already know, I love to travel. I left Dubai at the end of 2019 to give myself a bit more freedom for a while, and one of the reasons for this was that I wanted to travel more.
Well, the pandemic put a stop to all of that frivolous behaviour.
But now the world is starting to move again and restrictions are easing, I think it’s time to start dreaming again. Here are my current top ten places that I hope to visit soon(ish):
South Korea
I had planned to visit Seoul during the summer of 2020, but, well, we all know what happened instead. And now a lockdown induced love of K-dramas has made me even more determined to visit ASAP. I’ve been told, however, not to expect all of the men to look like the hot actors in my favourite shows.
Sigh.
Mongolia
Have you seen pictures of Mongolian landscapes? Trust me when I say that the photos alone are enough to entice you to want to visit. The photographer in me is itching to get there…
Japan (yes, again)
I visited in 2018 for two weeks and it was everything I expected and more. Before I visited, I was a little bit worried that having hyped it up in my mind so much (I’ve always had a big interest in Japanese culture) that I’d be disappointed. Well, I needn’t have been concerned because it totally surpassed my expectations – and I’m not easily impressed.
Hands down the best trip of my life to date. I’m still obsessed with Japan and I need to go back. Like, now.
Hong Kong
Another place that’s been on my list for so long that I’m disappointed that I still haven’t made it there. And with their ongoing pandemic restrictions, it seems unlikely I’ll visit this year either. But one can hope…
Bhutan
Ah, Bhutan. Beautiful landscapes, a rich and interesting culture, and a strong sense of spirituality. All of my favourite things in one, it’s been on my list for a long time.
The Philippines
I’ve always wanted to visit because a) I love Southeast Asia generally and b) Filipinos are the friendliest people anywhere. And since my brother met his wonderful wife who’s from the Philippines I’ve had even more reason to want to go. I hope to make it there the next time they visit as a family.
Italy
I can’t believe I haven’t managed this yet. There’s just no excuse for it. I might try and tie in a trip when I’m home for Christmas later this year.
